The Semper Opera House in Dresden is home to the Sachsische Staatsoper. It was designed by Gottfried Semper, started to build in 1838 and completed in 1841 by using early Renaissance style. In 1869 a fire destryed the building, rebuilt, and again destroyed in 1945 during the heavy allied bombing. It reopened in February 1985.
