My Fair Lady

A musical by Frederick Loewe; libretto by Lerner, based on George Bernard Shaw's "Pygmalion"; premiered in New York, 1956.
The story concerns Eliza Doolittle, a Cockney flower girl who takes speech lessons from professor Henry Higgens so that she can pass as a lady. Higgens takes credit for Eliza's success, but she realizes that she can now be independent and does not need him.
