The Gran teatro del Liceu, an opera house located on Barcelona's La Ramba, has retained its role as a culture and arts centre of the city.
it was designed by the architect Miquel Garriga i Roca, it opened its doors on April 4, 1847.
The fire of january 31, 1994 destroyed the main hall and stage. It was rebuilt and the new Liceu opened again on October 7, 1999.
