
Opera in 3 acts by the Hungarian composer Ferenc Erkel; libretto by Beni Egressy, based on a play by Lorine Toth; premiered in Budapest on January 27, 1844. Hunyadi Laszlo is considered to be the first important Hungarian opera and Erkel's musical style draws on folk influence, particularly the dance known as the verunkos.
The opera is based on events took place in Hungary in 1456-7.
